Synopsis - Shen, after Hamato Yoshi’s disappearance - worked at an animal shelter in New York and four of the new turtle eggs wouldn’t hatch. They assumed the turtles hadn’t made it.
Shen was… saddened by this and asked one of her friends (Draxum) who worked for a lab to help her figure out what was wrong with said eggs.
Late at night, when they were checking on the eggs, there was an explosion that flooded the facility with mutagenic gas - shortly after they got to what would be known as the lair, the eggs hatched.
Draxum told her to take care of the boys while he went and got supplies to make the lair more of a home - seeing as they couldn’t exactly go back to live in normal society after what had happened.
Shen agreed and stayed with the boys - after all, she had stayed with them the whole time and she was the one who made sure they’d made it… why would she leave her little ones?
… One night Draxum didn’t come back.
